Guru Ravidas ji was born on 1450, in the village Goverdhanpur, near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Guru Ravidas ji was born in 1450, near Varanasi, his mother was Ghurbinia and his father was Raghuram. His family belongs to the untouchable cast i.e. chamar (community working in leather). Guru Ravidas ji was the famous saint of the Bhakti Movement. Ravidas devotional songs had made a great impact on the Bhakti Movement.
The poems of Guru Ravidas ji was included in Adi Granth of Sikhs.
Guru Ravidas was one of the first people to say that all Indians should have human rights. Ravidas taught removal of social divisions of caste and gender, promoted unity in the personal freedoms.
Guru Ravidas Jayanti celebration:
a. To celebrate his celebrate the processions along with his portrait takes places on the street.
b. Devotees from all over the country flock together at his birth place that is Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan, in Goverdhanpur near Varanasi.
