What is meant by Makar and Sankranti?
Makar refers to the sun sign i.e. CAPRICORN:
Sankranti refers to the Transmission of sun from one zodiac
sign to another sign i.e. (sun enters to the tropic of Capricorn from the
Tropic of cancer).

What is Makar Sankranti
Makar Sankranti is a harvesting festival which is dedicated
to the Surya Dev (SUN). and Makar Sankranti states that it is the beginning of
spring season (Spring season is time for renewal of the shrubs and trees).

It is celebrated on 15th January of
every year
Makar Sankranti is a favorable day in Hindu religion, on this
day India's people celebrate this festival in a very enthusiastic way. Kites are being
flied in different states (Gujarat, Telangana) of India.
Makar Sankranti states that it is a dead end for the darkness (ending of
the bitterness between the friends, family and the relatives) and the beginning
of the light (starting to brighten the lives of friend, family and the
relatives) Joy and happiness in everyone’s life.
Importance of Makar Sankranti
- First Hindu festival celebration of the year.
a. There are lot of festivals for Hindu’s but
it is the first festival of a year i.e. Makar Sankranti.
b. During this festival people visit temple,
shop new clothes, and prepare some sweets specially the laddu which is made up
of by the combination of sesame and jaggery.
2. It is the harvesting season for the farmers.
a. Throughout the entire year the farmers are the
only person who doesn’t visit any tourists spot or has an vacation with their
families to with their relatives.
b. They are eagerly waiting for the results that
they have given their life and their breath to harvest the crops.
3. It is the beginning of the brightness of the life of all the human kinds.
a. We spend our life with our family, friends,
and relatives, and even we spend our life’s with ups and downs, happiness and
sadness. But as the new year starts.
b. We get a first festival i.e. Makar Sankranti which is purely known for the ending of the darkness and lightning of
the brightness.
4. It
is the beginning of Uttarayan period.
a. Uttarayan period is time span of six months
i.e. from the day of Makar Sankranti to the six months.
They say that the people who dies in this
time span reaches directly to the heaven.
